Material Selection and Sealing Performance of Saddle Repair Clamp

Material selection determines the long term performance of saddle repair clamps.The saddle shell is commonly manufactured from stainless steel to obtain good mechanical strength and corrosion resistance,adapting to underground,exposed and humid working environments.

The elastic rubber gasket is the core sealing part.EPDM gaskets are suitable for water and sewage pipelines.Nitrile rubber is selected for oil and hydrocarbon media,while fluororubber works for high temperature and corrosive chemical fluids.The gasket is pre formed to match the arc surface of the saddle.

Material compatibility test should be carried out before application in harsh working conditions.Reasonable material configuration can prevent gasket aging and shell corrosion,reduce the risk of repeated leakage and lower the frequency of later pipeline inspection.
